Radiation to prevent breast growth with ADT?

Hi All

I've read that brief radiation to the breasts can prevent growth and associated sensitivity/discomfort due to androgen deprivation therapy, and that it prevents future growth but does nothing to help with any growth that's already occurred.  But that's all the detail I've come across about this.

My husband has been on hormone therapy since June, and has just recently started experiencing the breast sensitivity thing.  If you've done this, can you tell me a little more about what's involved?  The process, any after effects, any issues with this interacting with the hormone therapy meds?

We didn't look into radiation at all, because it was already far too late for radiation by the time of diagnosis, so I'm definitely clueless here.

Yeah did that many years ago and after doing 2 yrs. of ADT3 and then switching to different drug therapy, decided I better do it before growth becomes noticeable and an issue. It can be done in one session but usually was done in 3-4 sessions, you can use electron rays which are even safer, I was basically inferred/told. Did that in 2005 early and no known issues or problems thereafter, except when originally done I did have like a sunburn about 4-6" dia. around each boob, and that went away but at the time not a plus for appearance. Looks like it did work in my case and stops any future growth, but will not reverse anything you might have already had in increases. You can also take another drug to try and prevent gnyecomastia and may work on patients. These measures are not 100% guarantees and Dr. Myers mentioned that in like around 30% of patients never get gynecomastia even with HT therapies and no prevention measures.....it is thus strange. If you don't do anything and get huge boobs the other option is surgery methods and it is not pretty per se, but can handle the problem and a friend of mine did just that and looks normal now. You shouldn't have issues related to doing this, of course experience and type of equipment and delivery of it are very important.
