In need of some encouragement

I am now 22 months post robotic surgery and ED is still a problem. I am approaching the 2 year mark which I understand is the point when I will find out if I am to recover or not. Up until now I have had lots of hope knowing that time was on my side and also seeing small signs of improvement. However, the last few weeks I have seen little sign of further improvement and if anything I think I have gone backwards. I now have to use the pump again to get a decent erection. I have stayed positive up until now but I can feel myself starting to think this is my lot and I am bordering on feeling depressed about it.

Reading some of your past post, I dont think you are done yet. I think you are putting to much pressure on yourself and maybe you should continue taking the daily dose of ED meds and give yourself a break for a while. Focus on other things for a while and then come back to it. I know, easier said than done, but give it a try. Who knows, you may wake up with a surprise.

Until that happens, treat yourself for being continent, having a low psa and feeling well. Increase exercising-what ever you can do will help your continued recovery and your psychy....

Notsostiff,I feel your concerns. I'm going on 14 months post surgery and have less "wood" then 6 months ago.

Yeah, it can weigh on you can't it? I'm at 15 months post RALP and a sufficient natural response just isn't there yet. The side effects from Cialis (body aches, stuffy) and Levitra (headache) hardly encourage regular attempts. Results have just started being usable in the last couple months, and then only when I feel up to dealing with the side effects. Overall, I have been wondering for the last few months where this would end.

Last week, based on a referral from my surgeon, I went back to my original urologist who is also an ED specialist. Doc says it is a use it or lose it deal and went over the options. His standard is to get me back to pre-surgery function, and he believes that should be ultimately possible without drugs. I decided to up the game and try injections.

The trial injection by the uro was only mildly uncomfortable, certainly less than expected looking at that 1/2 inch long needle. It had the desired reaction for the right amount of time, despite the clinical environment. He wrote the prescription and directed me to the same pharmacy that supplies the stock for his practice.

The pharmacist supplied smaller needles, made sure I had everything else needed, and sent me on my way. The next injection, at home, barely felt like a pinch. The result: equal to the best of results with pills. Happy husband and wife!

Trimix looks to be the way for me to get results, and do so frequently enough that I'm on the right side of use it or lose it.

One more plus for Trimix is cost compared to the pills. My insurance is worthless for any ED treatment, even if brought on by treating PC. Trimix will be less that $4 per time vs. $23 for pills.

Here is hoping you guys can find something that works for you too.

I had surgery in May, 2008 and it took 4 years for everything to partially recover. I have tried all the ED drugs, the VED and Trimix. At this point, the only sure method for me is Trimix.

I have a couple of young lady friends who love to stimulate so that also helps.  

Going through PC and wife's BC (surgery and radiation) its really difficult to get in the mental mood for sex.
