Hubby is scheduled for his Brachy on Jan 14th.  We have a 14 day cruise scheduled at the end of March.  We are driving to Florida from Ohio so we have 20 hours in the car each way which we will drive over two days.

How were your side effects at about 9 weeks out?

When he told the URO at the end of October he wanted to move forward with Brachy, he was hoping it would be scheduled at the beginning of December, which would have given him 3 months before the cruise.

Mickey58, this past Friday was coincidentally my 9th week post LDR Brachy - and I can tell you that I am feeling great! No side effects, no issues at this point. The first week I was a bit sore, and didn't push getting back to real physical activity (cardio and weight lifting) until I got past week three. Around weeks 6-7 I felt a little "different" - no SE's but, just different. I'm guessing that was due to the seeds just coming down to their first half-life after having been pounding my prostate at full strength since implant, but again no real issues.

By week 9 you guys should have no problem - FYI I did a couple of "road trips" driving 10-15 hour stints with no troubles at weeks 2 and 3. Another gent out here (Erbob) actually drove from Illinois to Colorado - the day after his implant. Enjoy the cruise!

Hi Mickey:

Assuming all goes well, there should be no problems with either the drive or the cruise.  There is some chance of frequency or urgency but neither should be a major issue.  He should stay away from alcohol and caffeine both of which may accentuate any side effects.  So, the odds are with you to be problem free.

P. S.  I don't recall your previous posts re choice of physicians; just make sure your guy/gal has done hundreds of the procedures before hubby's.  Experience counts in brachy also and an experienced doc will maximize chances of cure and minimize chaces of SE's.

Thanks for all of the responses.  He just got off the phone with URO. URO said he would "probably" be in good shape by then, but if it was him, he would postpone until we get back because after all, he recommended watchful waiting and there wasn't a hurry to do the Brachy.

He has decided to postpone until the middle of April.  It's our 30th wedding anniversary cruise, so better to be safe than sorry.
