FDA OKs Expanded Use of Zytiga

The article mentioned: "The expanded approval is based on a study of 1,088 men with late-stage, hormone therapy-resistant prostate cancer who took either Zytiga (abiraterone acetate) or an inactive placebo in combination with another drug called prednisone.

Median overall survival was just over 35 months for patients who took Zytiga and about 30 months for those who took the placebo, the FDA noted."

I'm curious - So, did these 1,088 men take Zytiga before chemo?  Were the placebo patients allowed to take Zytiga at some point, and did both groups have chemo eventually?  Lots of questions...

I think MDV3100 is next to get similar approval, maybe next year, also good news.

Jerry and others after seeing a Dr. Myers video from PCRI 2009 has resparked my possible enthusiam and sharing this herein.

A very useful protocol for hrpca patients or others with on going failing to control PCa disease, this combo has a 70% response rate in all patients, which is a big deal. Chemo general response rates are 40-50% he mentioned.

Leukine+ Keto + estradiol patches maybe gels too  (Leukine is expensive, the others are low priced)

Also, mentioned by Myers is that this combo used among many patients he talked about whom had 20 lesions or less, many achieved 'total remission'  (kind of unheard of language in hrpca circles), not sure how he defined all that and no specifics on that duration. But, still to see that type of results in hrpca/crpca, mets patients etc....is a big deal. Even stabilization of disease is a big deal, when you are in later stages of PCa.

yours is for more likely for bone health that is somewhatlow doseage (althought you an buy .025 patches) and the exact doseage can vary in an Rx or results, just like in using DES or casodex (conceptually). My pal Doug found out by trial and error, that .1 was not enough to control his early hrpca cells, but that when he got up to doing 3 of the .1 patches better results appeared, I think he used these less than one week and then changed them out for others and placing them in new body locations, as you know.

My same friend later tried estradiol gels, and ended up finding that custom mixed doseage levels can be mfg. by some pharma's and he had specific dose for his intended level based upon comparison doseages when on the estradiol patches, patches get to be hassle with coming off, relocations always needed, otherwise they are simple and can be a great way to go and help assist bone density. Dr. Myers mentions that bones in 70+ year old men, over 12 months use of estradiol had bone densities of 20 year old men (seems unreal, doesn't it?)

Got bone density?  (a real pro useage of estradiols and estrogen drugs)

Patches do vary more than I first thought, I had some huge circular Mylan patches .1 and then found a square type that was smaller, same doseage and clear see through type, Mylan is like wearing a piece of cloth with stick'em on it. So, sizes and types, doseages vary, and sticking capability all come into the mix, even costs can vary too. Showering with patches is also a possible loser for loosong adhesion and then you may have to pitch it earlier than intended. The big plus is likely you can take these without blood thinners (coumadin not needed), it by passes your liver unlike DES or emcyt (I presume on this one) and considered a plus. It does assist bone density, memory, stops hot flashes-sweats from other drugs (LHRH or casodex, etc.) to some decent degree and can cause apoptosis is some hrpca cells.

Also, do not allow pregnant women to handle these types of drugs is mentioned, plus using these in women might cause issues, just like adding testosterone can add to PCa issues.
