New and twisted up about deciding

Choosing can be very hard. There aren't that many really clear cut choices in this PC thing. The problem is that with your numbers you'd likely do fine with either procedure. There are differences in side effects and recovery times but those are often just a trade off. And each person is different. I went with IGRT because I have trouble tolerating surgery (heart and lung issues). I have a brother with PC that went with surgery and he's doing just fine.

Do you have a gut feeling which way you'd rather go? Are there factors in your health that make you want to lean to one treatment or the other?

Each of us on this site have our favorite treatments and you can read about how different people fared with their choice.

Take your time to work through all the facts and information you've received. Don't let anyone rush you into a decision - you've got a few weeks to make the choice your happy with.

Hi Buddy and welcome to HW.  Sorry you have to be here.

The thread on brachy vs. surgery should be valuable and timely for you.  We have all been in your shoes and the decision part is one of the hardest parts.  I would advise you to seek out experienced surgeons and brachytherapists but you are already doing so...good for you.

Feel free to ask any questions here.  We won't always give you the same answers or perspectives but that is part of the value.  For a first person 4 year plus view of brachytherapy, feel free to copy and past my "journey" in my signature.
