Just Got Prostectomy! 2-3 weeks ago. What next?

I recently had a radical prostectomy. Great news is that the pathology report is excellent!  Doc believes it was 100% contained in prostate, clean edges, spared both nerve bundles, SHOULD be zero from here on out. So now I am just recovering from actual surgery and dealing with gaining control on peeing and erections.  Would love to actual correspond (if that's allowed) with someone to share there experiences on the road back. That is why we are here, to share experiences, stories, advice, and of course, to give support.

Hope you do well in your recovery.

If you could, post some of the specs on your PC case, i.e. PSA numbers, Gleason, biopsy, post surgery report, etc. It would help us understand what you are dealing with better.

The first step in allowing anyone to contact you is to provide an open email in your member profile (DO NOT include an email in an open thread post).

My suggestion for immediate personal contact is to find a local support group. USToo.org has support groups in many states listed on their website. If there is not one local to you, contact the hospital where you had your surgery. Many have contact with or actually host survivor groups. These are a good way to meet men who have similar concerns.

Give us your stats by posting them in your signature like we have below so we can get to know you better.
It sounds like you just had your surgery but have not had your first post-op PSA test yet.
Good luck with it and I hope you DO get a Zer000000000 your first time at bat.

Welcome aboard!  Like you, pretty new on here, had my surgery February 26th and recouping at home.  I've had a few minor complications but gaining ground.  The folks on here will gladly answer any questions you have.  I will happily email back and forth if you like, just send me a shout and we'll get started!  Art

Thank you everyone for such a quick and positive response! Wow! It took me a few days to gather my stats in one place. Now trying to figure out how to create a signature. But working on my next post to you all after that.

Okay, I think I figured most of the basic tech stuff.  My main interest at this point is just want to connect to other guys! I do have one good friend who had a prostecomy a few years ago and its been helpful talking with him.  I'm 48, single (wife died of breast cancer several years ago so I am unfortunately familiar with the pains this disease can bring).  I am grateful that at this point all is well and doctor's expect things to remain so.

I'm only what 3 full weeks out, going on four. Just getting back into the swing of work (next Tuesday) and had my first performance a few days ago.  Still feel like an old man slowly recovering and trying to hold his water while functioning day to day! That's new and weird and a little disheartening.

Feel free to email, would love to connect with someone. Not that it matters but I'm in California, SF Bay.

Umm sorry for all the post. Still figuring this out. I including all my stats and checked include signature, but it looks like it did not show up - so just in case:

Prostate volume 34.5g

I am now 27 months post Da Vinci prostatectomy. I still have some erection issues but I am able to enjoy reasonably normal intercourse. I would like things to improve still further but I have to be grateful for what I have. It is a long road to recovery and so you have to be patient. Having said that I just concentrated on each day and then after two years looked back and thought 'that went quicker than I thought it would!'.

Happy to answer any questions you might have. I remember when I was at your stage I wanted to know what the future had in store and was always keen to hear from those who had already been through it. So I am happy to share my experience.

There are support groups in several locals. We also live in the Bay Area and attend one at El Camino Hospital in Palo Alto, the first thurs. of every month.

If interested let me know and I can fill you in with you the details.

Our next meeting we are having Duke Bahn, as a guest speaker, he is one of the leading radiologists in the study and treatment of PCa.
