@Doug - in your post, which was awesome, there was one comment that i forgot to address, it was
"But what about the things you CAN control? Are you living a healthy lifestyle? Did you improve your diet, step up your exercise program, manage your stress? If you answered no to any of these questions, now is the time to get on it - the bell of awareness is ringing my friend, and it won't ring forever."
And its a good point. In fact, about 2 years ago, i got on this, but funny as it may seem, it had more to do with my triglyceride problem and nothing to do with PCa biopsies, etc.
I've dropped about 30 pounds and are ony 5 pounds from my goal weight, and while i have not been as consistent about the gym as i would like to be, i am making progress, going way more often than i had been.
As far as the awareness bell ringing is concerned, no doubt. Not just regarding health, but life. I think more now, about trying to enjoy myself more and not take my job (i own a financial services practice) as seriously as i had been.
I guess everything in life good and bad, has a benefit or too, of some sort.
