I am quite pleased and surprised at the minimal changes ( read side effects) to bodily functions - and other than producing more urine than usual - I am doing OK

... the bubbling thought was more like molten lava under the surface ready to erupt due to anger - was not a good morning nor were the last few days ....

I am doing my best to be "up " and cheerful - but when it comes to the once-a-week check in with radiation oncologist - you gotta play your cards.... they have offered social assistance (someone to talk to) but it is all within the manageable realm....

- WEEK FOUR painting "bubbling up" (anger) - is ready for its first design coat ( I have the image in my head already and all the colours are chosen)... so I will be painting the sky dark - with black - greys - a streak of off-white with a gash of bright red... the anger ready to escape ...
( hey, I should write this down - will go well with the description of the painting .... aah, but I am rambling again so .... ZZZzzz...

end of week four of my radiation treatments and a very busy hectic wonderful week...
-two more newspaper articles about my crowdfunding project -
- chatted with local tattoo artist about tattooing cross-hairs where the techies did their spot ink tatts... this will help me "own and conquer" this PCa.
-got a phone call (which I missed) and email from potential backer on my "the radiation series"- and 5 minutes after emailing the details to him about need for $2,000.00 funding - he funded the full amount - $2K !!
- next week's painting will certainly be more optomistic and hopeful....

Bronson, congrats on getting this far with your IMRT. I just finished my eight weeks of it this past end of May. At the five week mark, I found myself getting fairly fatigued. I would often fall asleep on the table during the treatment, needed a nap in the day, and starting need more sleep, especially on the weekend. So please get the rest that your body so needs during your last three weeks. You are almost there and you can begin the count down of the number of sessions left, which I did to help me make it through one more session and knowing the count down was getting smaller each day.

Just began reading your string about salvage radiation.  Man, I hope the best for you.  Seems like you are tolerating treatment quite well thus far and that's fantastic.  Purg has to be one of the toughest guys who's ever been treated for this disease and I sure hope nobody else experiences some of his complications.  However, I really like his and your honest description of events should others have to go the SRT direction.

I will have my next follow up (2.5 year) PSA next week and am so nervous I can't sleep at night.  (it's my nature to worry way too much) Seems my PSA has had a marginal rise the last two test even though I'm still in the safe zone.  Keep posting your progress through treatment and pray the radiation wipes out this dreaded disease for you and others. Much luck to you my friend and Godspeed to wellness.

 

Getting ready for my countdown tomorrow - only 10 more RT sessions.

Still doing well but the fatigue has hit - have to push myself to keep moving - but allowing for 1 or 2 hour-long naps during the day ( hard to do that at the restaurant work).

Finished the 6th painting in my "the radiation series" called "fatigue". - very pleased with the effect.

Viperguy - nope, no to hormone therapy as of now.

As per my Oncologist, we will be doing PSA bloodwork 6 weeks after end of RT - so, that would be in first week of January 2014.
That would set the new baseline for my PSA numbers. If the numbers are in the 15-20 range he is not worried. Just prior to RT, my numbers gave me a 75% chance of being cancer free for 10 years.

I will then be retested in 4 months time ( May 2014) and then in September 2014. At that time we will discuss where the numbers are going - if numbers stay the same or go down from baseline - just retest - if go up - then decide what happens next.

I am very pleased to be down to my final 6 zaps ( last one on Nov 19) - very disruptive b.m.'s when they occur and very tired (with the mind wandering).. fatigue is a very good word to describe life right now....
- so I had my dream thoughts about my last painting - did not want to do anything forced ( like the first painiting repeated as in "a circle of life") .. and just let the plywood ( I use that as my canvas) decide what was going to occur.. and it blew me away with what is the final painting in my PROSTATE C*NCER PROJECT -"the radiation series" paintings.

It is called, "journey's end" - the end of one journey and the beginning of another.
I feel the fatigue, etc building so I wanted to get the painting finished so I could concentrate on getting through the week with work, etc.
