My husband had surgery about 8 1/2 months ago. I thought that I would give an update on his progress. My husband's post-surgery pathology showed EPE but clear margins, so his PSA tests done every 3 months cause a lot of anxiety for me. His latest test, done last week, showed a PSA of 0.008.
My husband is fully continent. It took him a little over 3 months to become continent, and he was incontinent until he did biofeedback.
My husband lost about 25 percent of his nerves during surgery. He has ED and is doing a rehab program that combines Viagra with Trimix injections. He has been getting what he calls mini-erections at night after he takes his 25 mg. of Viagra for a while now. This morning for the first time he woke up with a regular erection. Hopefully this is a sign that his ED will eventually resolve.
I don't know if I will ever be able to put PCA behind me, and feel as though it was a cancer that he treated and now we can move on. My husband is somewhat obsessed with resolving his ED, and I will always be nervous about a BCR. But I think, in general, that his progress report is good, and he has come a long way since his surgery.
