Has anyone had any experience with cryotherapy?

Hi Buck, and welcome to HW. Please pull up a chair, tell us about yourself and stay for awhile.

As to your specific question, there are only a few guys on this forum who have chosen cyro as a primary treatment and hopefully a couple of them will chime in own this thread. One of the reasons it is not chosen very frequently is the almost total ED that has traditionally resulted from this choice.

Anyway, hopefully you will hear from others and hopefully you will share some more about yourself so that we can be as helpful as possible.

Invented by Dr. Fred Lee while at Crittenton Hospital Rochester, Mi. (lol- he actually used a meat thermometer within this process in the beginngs of it) has protégé is in California now and is Dr. Duke Bahn whom does now do focal cryo. Not endorsing this, but check it out. Know about the donut pillow sometimes used post therapy.

There's a big difference between focal cryo and whole gland ablation with cryo. Sometimes it's used for salvage. What use are you considering it for and why?

I have had cryoablation as an outpatient. Don't know if the catheter was in wrong or if it was something else like referred pain but had pain in the penis for 2-4 months after procedure.
Urgency incontinence the first few months but it got better.
Some erectile ability returned 2 years later but I have a hydrocele and hernia and am not interest in that right now.
My PSA was good at first, went up a tiny bit later. I went on vegan diet and supplements and PSA is doing OK. Might be just a coincidence.
I might need a TURP someday for urine flow reasons.
Cancer-wise, so far so good.

My next door neighbor is the only person I know first hand who had that for treatment. He was a Gleason 6, they used HT for about 3 months first, guessing to shrink his prostate down to size.

He had no major issues with cryro therapy. A little bleeding, a little soreness, a little urgency for a few weeks. He has been pulling zero's ever since. This was about 2 1/2 to 3 years ago, aged 60 at the time.
