I'm with that Jim,
But it does go beyond over-treatment. Folks that are on AS even have to deal with some heavy duty side effects of multiple biopsies, fear and anguish. The second problem with AS is far too few doctors prescribe it and far too many patients are never informed about
it as an option and why it's worth considering. 90% of men are treated after Dx. I might be a cynic but don't see that number going down anytime soon if ever.
The debate was heated. It had valid points on both sides of it. And the results were the same as the discussion goes here. I think the USPSTF went way too far.
Contrarily, I just spoke to a man on the phone last night that was diagnosed 5 weeks ago and he is two weeks out from a radical prostatectomy after his G6 1 in 12 core diagnosis at age 51. I think that too was going too far by the medico whom rushed this case along. But that is the state of things.
