Side Effect? Hormone Therapy or Radiation? In Shoulders???

Hello! This is the first time I have posted on this site. My husband just completed 25 sessions of tomotherapy and also 4 HDR sessions. He has done well. He finished treatment about 2 weeks ago. He now is being awakened nightly with..severe shoulder pain! He says it is on both sides. He now gets out of bed and sleeps in recliner. What is that? This isn't something I have read about. He finished his hormone therapy a couple weeks ago, but we know that it is still in his system. Anyone that can help us figure this out? We don't even know what doctor to call....Thanks for any insight.

 PSA was 11.7 , Gleason 9.  T2a or T2b...  

Sorry you have to be here, but you're welcome. Stay here and ask, vent, whatever you need to do for support. Lots of good people here with experience and a very supportive approach. We're all just folks dealing with this disease in our own lives, not medical types, so take the advice with a grain of salt.

It's hard to say what is causing that shoulder pain. Side effects of HT do include muscle and joint pain, so it could be related to that.

Be sure to talk to your docs about that one, of course.

I see you already found the Gleason 9 thread, so you can contact people closer to your husband's situation fairly directly.

I very much like the "talk to his doctor" idea.

Hello and thank you so much for your responses! Things have gotten steadily worse since I first posted. My husband, who doesn't like to take any pain reliever, has been taking oxycodone every 4 hours at night. Today, we are going to an ortho PA and hopefully get answers. We originally thought it was a reaction to hormone therapy and the radiation oncologist agreed that could be a factor when my husband called him around the time I first posted, but his current pain level seems to indicate something more. He took hormones consisting of two shots and the daily pills for a total of four months. He ended that about a month ago.
He takes Tri-Boron Plus for bone density.
I really hope that this appointment brings some clarity.

Looks like rotator cuff tears. One side may require surgery, the other side PT. There was no indication of bone mets so it looks like we dodged that bullet.
I cannot help but think that hormone therapy may have brought this to the surface as it all started after hormone therapy, but who knows.
My husband will now have an MRI to determine how big a tear it is on the side that seems to be most involved.
I did read an interesting research article on bone mets in my reading about mets and I will post the link. The research indicated that most PCa mets follow a consistent pattern of progression. The link is below.
