I am from India-68 yers old.With Pc since August 2008. This September I developed bone mets-spine,skull etc.
Has just gone through radiation for spine and taxatore chemo-three infusions,one every month.
it appears that chemo has not been totally successful.
I am thinking of coming to my daughter's house in Boca Raton Florida and look for the latest medicines available in USA but not in India and undergo treatment there.
Please suggest effective oncologists in and around Bocaraton, Forida.

For my curiosity, for cross-cultural perspectives, could you describe the process you followed in India from discovery to recommendations and treatment choices?

Was diagnosed in 2008 August.Gleason 9.
about twenty months on Zoladex(once in three months) and first few months Casodex.
After twenty months,Radiation treatment-34 days.
No treatment-very very low PSA-for next one and half years.
January 2013 P.SA started doubling, hence put on Zytiga
August2013-Zytiga found ineffective and bone scan revealed mets -spine and skull.
Radiation to spine in September 2013.
Also Zometa once in three weeks.
Taxatore three infusions-once in three weeks-since September miiddle.
Now PSA is 7.5,backpain seems to have partially returned.
Visiting oncologist on Monday for further action.
Simulteneously exploring future options
(Xtandi,Provenge,Radium223 are not at all launched yet in India)

Research Dr. Michael Dattoli in Sarasota, Fl he is a very well known radiation oncologist, takes on many tough cases.

Dr. dattoli also works with Dr. Snuffy Myers a very respected oncologist who also has prostate cancer himself, both help people with advanced cases, they maybe able to help you. Both see prostate cancer patients only.

Dattoli is a radiation oncologist, and I think he is/was Dr. Myer's doctor.  Dr. Myers refers many patients to him for scans and radiation treatments.  However, I think you would be better served with a medical oncologist first.  Like davidg mentioned, I am sure some of our Florida guys will chime in and mention a few reputable medical oncologists from that area.

Dr. Myers is one of my doctors and he is accepting new patients, but he is in Charlottesville, Virgina. He doesn't take insurance for his appointment(s) and he is rather expensive.  But, I do believe he understands this disease like few others.

Hi Krishnan,
I live in Boca Raton, but the only name I got is Dr. Samarth L. Reddy. He is certified in Oncology and Hematology. I know nothing about him other than he was recommended by my Urologist (who I respect and has not steered me wrong) and I will be seeing him on Tues to look at some other anomalies in my latest blood tests.

I can let you know what I think after I see him. I am sure there are others on here from So. Florida that can chime in.
