3-13-2014 Lupron/TAK700 Clinical Trial Update

We guys it has been just a couple days short of a month on Lupron and 5 weeks on TAK700.

Tomorrow morning I go see the ONCO to see how I am doing. Blood work before the meeting, PSA and other stuff and then after the meeting I get the next round of TAK700 pills.

So far so good and pretty unremarkable on the SEs. I thought I was beginning to experience some fatigue, but I am not sure. Had about 10 days where I seem to lack energy and afternoon naps felt good.

But I don't think it was the drugs. I forget that I am 65 and for the last month or more I have been working my arse off getting ready to host GFMPH. In addition we went through a few weeks where the falling pine pollen was so heavy that everything had a yellow dust covering it that required hosing off on a daily basis.

One of our members and a trusted friend said it was most likely the amount of activity and stress over GFMPH. We don't always recognize stress when we encounter it.

For the last 6-7 days I have felt my same old self. But that also seems to coincide with the absence of pollen and the fact that my "To Do" list is down to just a couple of lines on one page.

I am looking forward to the meeting tomorrow. I started this trial with a PSA of 92 and am anxious to see where it is after just a month.

Now before you other HT guys ruin my good vibes, I know that the SEs are still to come. But I am approaching this from the positive that after 5 weeks, there is nothing to report to the trial team tomorrow.

I will update this after I get the results from the blood work.

I am in this same trial. Std HT. Lupron and casodex.

Just notified that they changed the CT and Bone scan testing from six months to a year. Would be interested if it will be same for you.

Good news, Sonny! Let's hope the SEs stay minimal. Not everyone gets them, and you might be in the lucky group. Thanks for the update.

I have found that the more physically active I am the less apparent the HT side effects. I think your physical activity preparing for the GFMPH has been helping. Your challenge will be to keep up a good rate of physical activity. My hot flashes have been much more frequent and significant when I am sedentary. When in doubt, take a good walk or clean the pool.
