Hello one and all - here is an update for you.
I have been on supplement pills designed to lower my testosterone and raise my natural estrogen in my body. It is my alternative approach to traditional hormone therapy for PCa.
The traditional method results in having the men have side effects similar to menopause - hot flashes, depression, fatigue, mood swings, night sweats and possible growth of breasts. They had schedule estrogen shots during my radiation treatments but I could not afford the travelling time to Oshawa Hospital ( was not allowed at my local hospital) and the costing - $1,000.00 per shot every 3 months for a year - even though it was part of a "clinical study".
This alternative method using aromatization ( like cures like) changes the testosterone in a man's body into his own estrogen. It lowers the testosterone which reduces the risk of having PCa return ( which feeds on testosterone), and does change the male body into a more feminine form - no problem with me - right now testosterone is the enemy - and if I get a bigger chest - so what - it's already big (51") from my years working out lifting weights.
I got my test results this morning. I had the bloodwork done to make sure the pills were doing what they were supposed to do.
My liver is fine - estrogen level is fine - testosterone was within range and my PSA ( drum roll please) was down to <0.010 !!!!!!
HOOOOORRRRAAAAAHHHHH ! ( HOORAH)
I was 0.35 before radiation - 0.034 one month after radiation - <0.010 four months after radiation / 2 months after starting bovine ovary pills. I am pleased with the results. I feel good myself and the changes in my life. I am happy.

p.s Sonny, say hello to Sonya for me.

That is great news!
Curious about
the medical thinking behind it: the pill reduces testosterone and that reduces risk of a recurrence?

have got a lovely girl at work at red lobster gonna take me out for my first fitting when necessary - hee hee - take care
Bronson
p.s. testosterone feed PCa cancer cells - therefore the use of normal hormone therapy to chemically castrate the men for a set time period to weaken the hold of the cancer - so it can be attacked with radiation and other means - or just to slow down its progress.

I will be sorry to miss the GFMPH gathering in Florida too. The last time I was in Florida was 1970 with Mom and Dad and sister.
Best wishes to everyone going - it is a life-changing event that will help you cope with PCa and help you discover how PCa has brought you benefits as well - lifelong friendships and an extended family.
hugs to one and all,
Bronson

??
Outstanding results--congrats. I don't know what you are doing but it's working so so keep it up. "Bovary" in the US refers to cattle so are you getting some drugs from a vet? Sure, this forum deals with serious stuff but many times the humor cracks me up.
Wishing Bronson a firm handshake and Bunny a brief hug.

We'll drink a little something in your honor at GFMPH!
