bi-mix and continence

I'm doing ok lately with continence improvement. But when it's time for "penile rehab" and I inject bi-mix, I lose control for a few minutes after the injection. I pee first and do everything I can to empty my bladder. Then inject and while waiting for it to work I get a dump of urine "out of the blue" maybe two minutes after the injection. Once that is over, there's still some dribble. It's a hassle because then I'm more concerned about that than relaxing and enjoying the "rehab". I think that makes the dribble worse. Is this a common thing? I thought the drug had a local effect but maybe it's relaxing the remaining sphincter muscle as well.

It's common. It tends to get better. It is often the last factor of continence that a man recovers.

The way it works, more or less, is before your surgery you had two urinary sphincters. One is designed to relax when you are aroused, the other isn't. During sexual climax semen is emitted into the space between these two sphincters and squeezed like a toothpaste tube by the smooth muscle contractions. The front/lower/(remaining) sphincter was designed to be looser so that you would ejaculate forward, rather than backward into your bladder.

With time that sphincter will (usually) regain enough tone so that even in a slightly relaxed state it is still tight enough to keep things dry.
