High PSA remain unchanged

I had PSA at 1.9 in 2010 at age of 55. Without testing for three years, my PSA suddenly tested at 14 in 2013. After biopsy, there was no cancer but prostatitis detected. After medication, the PSA showed 16, So I had second biopsy after six months. It was negative for 12 cores again.

Today, after one year, my PSA remained at 14 similar to 16 months ago and not going up or down.

I am really worry not knowing what to do, can any one have the same symptom to provide advise or comfort?

The fact that your PSA has not moved in the past year should also give you some comfort. In addition to the other tests Tall Allen has recommended, plus a "Free PSA" test, you could take the approach of testing PSA quarterly or every six months. As long as it is not moving up, just keep watching. If it starts to move up, you can get another biopsy.

Some labs might do an endorectal MRI or doppler ultrasound to check further; that's another option. But I think most would say if PSA is not increasing (and you're not getting any treatment) it's very unlikely to be cancer.

You aren't by any chance taking a drug like proscar or avodart or anything that affects your testosterone level, which might mask an increase in PSA, are you?

I am not taking any medication other than 10mg Lipital. My concern is that, is it possible that if PSA was pushed up by prostatitis and don't come down anymore? I am it is rare, but is it possible?

As to the "rare", my prostatitis from biopsy was detected as Granulomatous Prostatitis (the one that grows a tumor). When my PSA was 16 and DRE showed a tumor, the doctor was almost certain I had a aggressive kind of PC. Now, the tumor from this rare prostatitis was gone , but my PSA remains the same level.

I did have Free PSA tested along with PSA by my Uro.
In 11/2013, PSA 16.1 Free PSA 1.6
In 06/2014 PSA 14.1 Free PSA 1.4
Two biopsy were done with negative result.

What does the Free PSA here tell me?

So if Free PSA (as the report says) is within the normal range, does that mean that my elevated PSA is not caused by prostatitis?
