One of the things that I've done is be open about my diagnosis and treatment. By doing that, when someone else gets diagnosed, a friend or relative might put them in touch with me, and maybe I can help.
In the past year, a friend of a skiing friend got diagnosed and needed someone to talk to. I was able to help there.
A fellow gym member was diagnosed and our gym owner got us together to talk.
This coming week, I'm having lunch with someone from my local PCa support group to talk about ED. He's two years post-op, 10 years younger than I, and full ED. I hope I can help, even though I'm not fully recovered myself. Close, but not quite.
If someone had suggested 15 months ago, that I'd be having lunch with a prostate cancer survivor to talk about ED, I might have laughed out loud.
Life is funny that way.
