Agreed that the information would be very useful to newbies.

I will point out that Vantage Oncology LLC seems to be the private company behind the website. Apparently they may have had some problems in the past with over billing for radiation treatments:

Also to the point RCS made - valid, but IMHO should not cast a shadow nor deter from the body of work that compromises this brochure. In fact in the link he provided it also states "The case is captioned United States ex rel. Suleiman Refaei v. Vantage Oncology, et al., Case No. 1:10-cv-833 (S.D. Ohio). The claims resolved by the settlement are allegations only, and there has been no determination of liability."

I am hopeful that the newbies see that, and also the value of the link and brochure.

I've not been here as often, but when I've checked in lately there seems to be so many newbies, so I got back on my "search bandwagon" and found this. I am really impressed with how neutral both the website and brochure are. I would encourage all, newbies and "veterans" alike to grab the download. If anyone can't get it, e-mail me and I'll send it to you.

Ouch, A Yooper...

The DoJ and US Attorney's Office went after this company in a big way just last year. They're going to have to pick up some new revenue to make up for their settlement and costs, if they want to stay in business.

Their literature, however, does do a good job saying men with newly diagnosed PC should get a second opinion before taking action, and that the second opinion should be from a radiation oncologist (them). Their total available market size is (unfavorably)smaller when PC patients only consider surgical approaches.

It's easy to forget its a business.

Personally, I like to be informed, and know the back story...but maybe that's just me. FWIW

I apologize about bringing up Vantage's problems with the DOJ. I did not intend my post to be an attack on the helpful content of the Web site or on Yooper's efforts to help Newbies. I also apologize for not getting back to Yooper by email .... I've been helping my daughter move from Grand Junction to Denver.

Having said that ... I believe if this website had been copyrighted by Dr. Spamadi and it was collecting the name, telephone number and e-mail address of newly diagnosed PCa patients, the moderators would have locked the thread on the first day as a rule 4 violation. To me it is an obvious sales lead generator .... A very well designed, written and helpful one.
