Hello, Graytech and welcome to HW. Sorry you have to be here but I'm sure you will find lots of support and info within our community.
In answer to your question, as JNF said "maybe, maybe not". Most of us, no matter what treatment we chose, tend to recommend that men evaluate a number of alternatives before making this potentially life changing decision. So, at this point may I suggest:
1. Reading the sticky thread at the top of our forum that is designed for new members:
www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=35&m=26522502. Continue to get educated by reading some excellent books. I personally recommend Dr. Walsh's, "Guide to Surviving Prostate Cancer" and Dr. Scholz, "Invasion of the Prostate Snatchers". You will get broad perspective from these two books.
3. Get a second opinion on your pathology slides from a real expert such as Dr. Epstein at JHU or Dr. Bostwick at Bostwick Labs.
4. Visit with some experts in other disciplines such as LDR Brachytherapy, SBRT and HDR Brachy before you pull the trigger. You may still decide on surgery but at least you will have made an educated decision by considering options that are also likely to cure you but with a lower likelihood of onerous SE's.
5. Whomever you choose, make sure it's an experienced person with hundreds if not thousands of procedures under their belt.
Good luck and please stick with us -- we can help you through this.
Jim
