I am meeting tomorrow with the urologist to go over my pathology report and discuss treatment options. When they called me with the results last week, they indicated a preference for surgery. In fact, they wanted to just go ahead and schedule surgery. I told them that while I am leaning that way, given my age and family history, I wanted to sit down and go over everything before I made any decision.
One thing that I am concerned about, with any treatment plan, is the fact that I only have one kidney. I donated a kidney to a friend several years ago. I've read a few stories of people that have had complications with their kidneys via all treatments, including surgery. I'd really rather not wind up on dialysis while trying to treat cancer.
What problems have any of you experienced in regard to your kidneys, during treatment?
