Hmmm. I can't sleep. Too much caffeine? On to year 8. I was a pT3b cancer guy 8 years ago. It's been a year since my last PSA. After surgery, radiation and a long term on HT I'm not afraid of another PSA test. Sigh...I'm just effing tired of them. Just saying...It is what it is...
Strangely, the last time I can remember that I could not sleep about
this was December 26, 2006. When I learned I needed peer help. Oy.
I am no longer a regular here, but I'll never forget the love and support I got here.

Were you having sleep trouble because you're waiting for PSA results? It seems no matter what we tell ourselves, waiting on results from any medical test aggravates insomnia.

My battle hasn't been like yours, but I can relate. Six month PSA tests were scary, then became worrisome, and now varying degrees of concern. Tests are now scheduled once a year, which brings its own concern, oh-no is that too long. Our paths and battles are unique. The common thread to all is the PSA test. Never thought a single test would be reason for celebration, or not. Controlling ones emotions, and not being controlled by them, is a difficult task at best.

Tony,
In your last sentence you mention love and support.
For me, support is important when dealing with my anxiety and sleep problems. It's one of the reasons I troll forums in the early morning ... to get support or feel like I am worth something by supporting others.
When things get bad, I do take pills. We are all different and I am just saying what helps me sleep.
Best wishes.

Tony, being relatively new here, I never got to know you. Virtually or otherwise. But just wanted to say good luck with the PSA test. Something I guess we all just have to get used to being nervous about
on occasion. With all you've apparently done for others here and elsewhere in the PCa brotherhood, you deserve a zero.
As far as sleep? Being 4 weeks out of surgery today, I feel like my sleep is never going to be the same. But we're all different

Tony - I get periods when I can't sleep and then it just goes away. Never really understand why. Sometimes it's stress, illness, worry, noisy neighbors, etc.
One time my doctor told me, "You could be stressed over not falling asleep and are staying awake worrying if you'll fall asleep." She also uses the "O" word a lot - as in, "As you get older ..." Thanks doc.
Didn't really want to say it, but your sleep patterns do change as you, um, age.
and I am starting to understand what you mean about
the PSA tests. I can't wait for the doctor to switch me to annual tests because I am just plain tired of having to do that routine.
Hang in there,
Andrew

Tony, when I was going through some stuff a lot more stressful than my Cancer, I didn't want to try and sleep as I knew I would only worry about
not sleeping! I managed to find out how to get around it but was sure tough!
Cheers, Doug

Tony,
First of all congrats on year 8 as you are two years ahead of me. And secondly, just wanted to say I really appreciate everything that you have brought to HW and to your Community in LV.

Tony,
Wow. Year 8 already. The only things certain in life are death and taxes.....oh, and for prostate cancer guys, the PSA test. I'm happy that you drop in here often. I've known you longer than anyone else who is still active on the forum.
I hope all is going well for you and that it is only the PSA test that you're tired of, and not the good you do others by giving generously of your time and expertise.

Thanks guys,
I get a brief reprieve until the 18th for the needle and then the 20th to see Nick Vogelzang. I had to tweak my schedule because I need to talk Nick into doing some shows with me. Starting on February 26 to the 28th in Orlando for the ASCO GU summit. Then we kick off a new meeting
location with the Cleveland Clinic in March. Then Nick and I head to San Francisco (SWOG) in April and Chicago (ASCO Generals Session) in May.
Haha, I see my oncologist quite a bit but we've been working together for quite a few years now. Oh well. All is well. I feel good and believe that my PSA will be fine.
I know I am a very lucky man and I have done remarkably well all things considered.

There is a lady who works at a store that I frequent regularly whose husband had his surgery 5 years ago. He was the same age as Bob when he had his robotic surgery (53). In conversation I asked her "What's his PSA been like?" She said he went back for his post op but has NEVER let them test his PSA since. She said he had said when he had surgery that they had one shot at it, that he would never do any other treatment and he wasn't going to spend the rest of his life worrying about
it. Sometimes I wonder if he doesn't have a good idea, but I'm a worrier, I'd still be worrying about
it anyway, so I guess I'd rather know what Bob's PSA is.~Miki~

Good to hear form you Tony, even if for reason stated.
Today is an anniversary of sorts for me too as my biopsy was 2-4-13.
No words of wisdom other than I know you are a religious guy and will be praying your sleep issues are resolved.
