How can this happen? Good news, ?bad news, REALLY Good news.....

A drop in Paul's PSA- to his lowest ever at 0.10 this month! Other labs within normal (CBC, AST)! yay!!!

BUT....

PET scan on Wednesday.... Not sure what to make of it....

His innumerable lung mets are back... Not quite as many in the upper (more in lower) but still innumerable- or should I say again? It makes NO sense to me how this can be if his PSA is still dropping.... They were clearly almost gone save a couple on the several CT scans he had with all the GI stuff in the last months.

Only thing I can wrap my head around is that it may be another form of cancer (lung?) that responded well to the only taxotere infusion he had and now coming back again? Has anyone heard of spread of Pca without a rise (and actually a drop) in PSA whilst on Lupron? I just don't get it.

Still waiting for Head MRI to be done Saturday, and looks like neck CT as possible/qustionable areas there on the PET. Hoping its artifact....

AND..... My vacation days got approved for April GFMPH in Baton Rouge!! Will be making reservations and plans this weekend!! Can't wait to meet you all!

I am wondering... remember the underlying 5s? Don't dare to tell Paul about that.... I think he has forgotten for the moment.

We will have to wait for a few more tests and haven't spoke to the docs yet. Will be sending to doc at Emory for his opinion as well.

Tomorrow going up to Dawsonville to help thaw some pipes of a coworker, hopefully with few or no breaks. Will be good for Paul to get his hands dirty and have something to do for once that accomplishes something.

There are rare neuroendocrine cancers (e.g., small cell) that don't put out hardly any PSA. Did they ever biopsy any of the lung nodules? How else can they know what they are dealing with?

I have no idea what is involved in obtaining a biopsy, but one of the strange things about some of these rare types of PC is that they respond to a different set of chemo. Irinotecan and cisplatin may work better with some types than docetaxel.

Grrrrr.... Still waiting for a response from Oncologist.... A NP answered the email but none of my questions and has never seen him at all so didn't make any sense. Finally she said she would forward to his doc after a followup email!

Other onc said his cancer was mets and obv incurable. Like we didn't already know that....

So still no answers or direction.....

Haven't seen the MRI head although apparently it was just MRI brain, not sure its been read yet.
