UNDETECTABLE in 3 months with Firmagon

Hi Folks:

A bit of relief today...After 3 months on Firmagon and daily Casodex, my PSA went from 209 on date of DX 11-11-14 to UNDETECTABLE as of today...Started on ADT 12-5-14...First PSA reading afterwards was 1.2 on January 5, 2015. Had PSA checked today and it is undetectable. PHEW

Staying on Firmagon that's for sure. Monthly injections suck but hey it's working.

I will thank you...I struggled in the beginning trying to find the right medical team but I am now so happy that I am with Dr. Jingsong Zhang at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa Florida...Contrary to my original Providers, every one at this Clinic is cheerful, organized and Dr. Zhang appears to know his stuff.

I will hang on and hopefully we will all be still conversing on this great site many years from now

I am considering a switch over to Firmagon from Lupron.

How are you tolerating the monthly injections ?

Are you experiencing injection site pain or swelling like so many have described that are on the monthly Firmagon shots ?

Yes unfortunately I do experience some swelling and pain on the injection site for around 2- 3 days. The first 3 times I was injected I had a lump there for a few days. This time around I have the usual lump but also a dime sized bruise where apparently the needle hit a blood vessel. The pain for me at least is very tolerable and a small price to pay for what is most likely a superior drug.

In my opinion, I would not worry about the injection site pain as it is not that bad.
