Not posted for a while, but happy to report that after 5 shots of Zolodex, my PSA is still in the undetectable range.
Not so happy about the side effects, which are building with each shot, rather than leveling out now that I am over the halfway mark. I also have side effects from the Radio Therapy, and other randoms ailments, and given the accumulative effects I am considering an early exit from the Zolodex treatment.
Now my understanding is that for someone in my position (rising PSA immediately after surgery, no detectable metastasis, radiotherapy to Pelvic Region + Lymph nodes) , the jury is still out on the usefulness of hormone therapy. To balance this, I understand that the chances of the remaining cancer being remote to pelvic bed is around 40%.
So my question is - if I stop the Zolodex now and my PSA creeps up again, will I have the option of going back onto the HT, or are we looking then at a different treatment path?
