Scared please help

My husband has just been diagnosed with ductal prostate cancer
Gleason score 4+4
PSA 8.37
T2
8 of the 12 cores came back positive for ductal cancer the rest was positive for andocarsinova

Bladder liver and kidneys clear

Waiting for 2 MRIs to see if it's migrated to the bones and or nodes
He's 57 (March 9th)
Are going to have the prostate removed after MRIs come back all this has happened in the past 3 weeks so very fast
If anyone has had the same symptoms or any advice (I'm going to be honest here I need to know if anyone has survived this as all I read prognosis is always bad) and this is scaring me

Welcome to Healing Well. We're sorry you're here, but it's a great place for information and has been a wonderful source of comfort to us in the past few months. We're pretty new to this, too, but there are a lot of really knowledgeable people on this board that will be here soon to help you and give you input. I think they will all ask your location so they can give you more information. Also, have you had a second opinion on the biopsy slides? In the U.S. the two recommended places are Bostwick Labs and Dr. Epstein at Johns Hopkins. Take a deep breath and try to relax. There are many here with scarier stats than your husband's that are doing very well! My thoughts are with you!

We live in the UK
We have one hospital in London that deals only with all prostate cancers surgery etc all the specialists under one roof we have a 2WW list which means all patients are seen within 2weeks after referral
We have all ready been allocated our cancer nurses and been advised to have surgery as this is a stubborn cancer and doesn't respond well to other treatments
8 out of 12 cores were positive for doctoral cancer the rest were positive for androcarcinoma

Do you mean "ductal" cancer? That's a variant I can't speak to. What was the gleason score on the biopsy?

Ductal cancer is an aggressive variant, but doesn't mean it can't be cured.

I was diagnosed in June 2013 with 10% Ductal (90% Acinar) and had a RP followed by radiation and 12 months hormone treatment. My latest PSA was zero, so I am expecting to be around for a very long time.

Welcome to HW, sorry you need to be here.

This can be scary, but know that PC isn't like some cancers as there are a lot of treatment options.

We don't hear of ductal often, but it is treatable as noted above and there is every hope of a positive outcome.

The best thing you can do know is to learn all you can, checkout the Ductal thread, and the sticky threads at the top of the forum.

And know that we have guys here who've had worse news and are still alive for many, many years after.

Thank you to everyone that has answered on here especially the man that had ductal pc in 2013 I managed to delete you sorry was trying to get a link you had posted about threads? I think I blocked you instead I think your name was Chris so thank you your advice has helped

Go to the top of the page and click on "My Profile" under there is an option to manage your blocked list. You can remove him if you did block by mistake.

We've all managed to block someone by mistake from time to time - easy to do as the yellow ! button does that. There's no way you can delete someone else's post. Do the unblock and you'll see it again.
