I received a call from my doctor from the Mayo Clinic and he gave me my results of my MRI which was about 2 1/2 long. He said that the MRI did not show any high grade cancer, they took pictures of my prostate, hip bones and hips and didn't see anything at all.
He told me that he doesn't see any need for another biopsy, I have already had two. The first one they took 16 cores and found nothing that was back in 2006 and my PSA at the time was 6.5 that doctor wanted to remove the prostate which I was not to happy about going under the knife so, I went to the Mayo.
There at the MAYO we went into an active watch and slowly my PSA was going up so at 11.5 the doctor wanted to do another biopsy but this time they took 25 cores and of those 25 they found 10 with small grades of cancer. My doctor said that of those 10 the numbers were really small and not much to worry about and my Gleason score was a 6.
Soon after the PSA went up to 12.5 then 15 so at 15 he suggested an MRI to get some good pictures to see where we were at. The two hours laying there wasn't bad the only thing that hurt going in and coming out was the probe that was used, whatever they gave me to relax sure wasn't any good at all. I could have had a few jacks and coke and felt better.
My doctor said that he doesn't feel that we need to do another biopsy he just wants to keep checking me and see where the PSA goes.
At this point I am very happy knowing that nothing was found but still don't know what is head of me down the road. I guess removing my prostate should the PSA numbers go up but I will wait and see what happens.
Are there any guys out there in the same boat as me? Would like to hear from you.........
