prosent bone scan what s next?

after having a pressent bone scan results showed a hot spot where my prostate use to be, the reg bone scan shows nothing, you would think theirs a way to zap that hot spot, to save a live, how many other people have the same, some small spots and all we can do is wait, till it spreads and does us in, Im looking for treatments that can help , psa12 2010/ 3/10 rad prost /5/10 psa.04 /8/10 savage rad 8wks/good till11/11 /started Lupron for 2 yrs/ psa .002/ off8mos/psa rose to .4/ started back on Lupron 12/2014 psa on march/2015 was .03

I'm sorry to hear this disappointing finding. I don't know what you mean when you say that the present bone scan showed a hot spot where your prostate used to be but a regular bone scan showed nothing. Do you mean you had a PET scan, rather than just a bone scan? That is the place where most recurrences happen - where the surgeon may have left some cancerous tissue behind. Perhaps the cancer was radioresistant, or the dose was too low to kill it. It really doesn't matter now.

The reason they can't just zap it with more radiation is because it has already been cut and zapped with salvage radiation - any more at the same place risks destroying what is left of your urethra, which would be very dangerous.

The good news is that the Lupron seems to be controlling the cancer very well.

Is there a scan out there that is spelled something like procint that he could be talking about. I have seen the word in discussion, not sure if it is a scan , a medicine or a treatment, but it is in my head and am 99.9% i have seen a word like that bandied about. present scan makes no sense in the context of the sentence. could be wrong but thought I would put it out there. Kenny knows!!
