New Exercise Program

Good for you. I also have an exercise bike on my back screen porch, and I do try to ride on it at least a few times per week. (Some weeks I get out to it more often than others, of course).

Below is something amusing, or excessive, I suppose, depending on your point of view. Apparently the latest word in exercise bikes. It's a kind of commercially available virtual-reality-stationary-bike with a video screen attached to the handle bars, making it seem like you're actually riding through a forest or something as you move the pedals:

And if you watch the embedded video on the above site, it also looks like the rider is putting on virtual reality goggles at one point, which I suppose suggests an all-around 3D experience while riding?

I'm not plugging this thing, of course, just citing it as, I guess, an example of a really, really deluxe version of ye olde stationary bike. (I didn't see a price for it, BTW, although a quick web price check in general for this kind of bike brought up figures of $3000 or more ).

Are we correct in assuming your model isn't quite this fancy? (Mine sure isn't!)

The bike is on my back porch looking over our garden, so while I am pedaling I can think of all the heavy lifting I'll be asked to do this weekend. I tried using the bike as a drying rack, but sadly it's a point my wife and I disagree on. I think it fits a drying purpose, but she thinks that I should actual use it for exercise. So far I've failed to convince her of my point of view.

I've tried to convince my doctor and my wife that I can get my heart rate up to 120 by drinking a large raspberry latte and eating a chocolate covered doughnut, but they have rejected my scientific evidence and are forcing this new method on me.

sigh...

Andrew your post has motivated me to start with a program of my own.

Today UPS delivered the brand new massage table that I ordered. Got it in two days.

Monday my trainer starts coming to my house. The table is for him to stretch me on. Sitting around on my arse is making me stiff and sore. The muscles are starting to tighten up.

I could probably stretch myself, but then again that might be too much of a work out. So I will just lay on the table and let him do all of the work. He works cheap and there is little effort involved on my part.

I may put the bike on the back porch by the pool and get a good workout just visualizing climbing up and down hills. I am very good at visualizing.

Don't forget mountain climbers. the exercise I hate the most, but do 3 sets of 90, daily. Total killers, but effective for core and cardio.

I can see you riding your bike that way…thats quite a trick for a man of your age…any age.tee hee
