I haven't been here in a little while. I have been enjoying life and my HT break. I just dropped in with an update.
Well today has turned out to be a pretty farkin crappy day. As you guys know I was able to take a break from HT starting this past February.
At that time my PSA was 8 and Testosterone <10. A month ago my PSA was 5 and T level was 120.
Today my results have T level at 570, but PSA is up to 11.58. At this rate my break from HT will be very short. This is a real kick in the teeth. I do not want to go back on HT.
I was only married for 6 months when I had my first shot and my Libido quickly went in the toilet. Also now that I have some T back I have been making really good gains with a personal trainer in getting back some of the muscle that the HT robbed me of. The last few months have been really nice in both areas and the thought of losing all of that again is really playing heavy on my mind. I just needed to vent a little and I hope you guys understand.
Not much of a "Bonus Day" around here today.

Sonny,
I get it. You're just getting your T where you want it to be and the PSA is slightly misbehaving.
Hang in there...I still think you have some serious living and a lot of bonus days in the next few months with that new T and on vacation.

Sonny,
Thanks for the update. I'm sorry to hear that your pSA is up. Even 'bonus days' aren't always bonus days. Take care and hang in there.

Sonny perhaps you can go onto Avodart and allow the T and its equipment to stay up, while driving the DHT down.
my even shorter stint so far on IHT still has T <20 and DHT <5, so will have to wait and see which one loses its less than sign first.
I was hoping for your sake the only crappy part was you did not get the trifecta with another winning lottery ticket.
Hang in there, my friend.

That's a bummer. I have also been on HT holiday since October 2014, so know how it feels to be "free" again.
However in spite of all the nasties that come with HT, just remember it is going to give you much much longer to enjoy a lot of the other things that are important to you.
Good Luck

It looks like you still have a couple of months before you hit the limit you set. I know that you, if anyone, will find a way to make the most of it.

Sorry to hear this. Vent away. Lupron is wicked stuff. It may not look like it to outsiders, but everybody involved suffers from the side effects. We are hoping for the summer off from HT, but not quite there yet. Your positive attitude is going to get you through this.

Tough to hear this update Bro, but hang in there man - no doubt you'll have many-many more bonus days ahead of you.
Beyond that, I'll simply echo what Chas said: "However in spite of all the nasties that come with HT, just remember it is going to give you much, much longer to enjoy a lot of the other things that are important to you."
You are in a very select group of rock stars out here that continue to kick the snot out of the beast - so keep on, keepin' on. . .
As always, my very best. . .

sorry to hear the news, can feel your disappointment. pc never plays fair.
it's all about
trade offs to me. quality of life is a very personal and subjective affair, no two people can compare. its all about
what you want out of the rest of your life, and what you are willing to endure to balance quantity over quality. the older I become, and the longer I have been in the pc world, the more I understand (and this only pertains to my personal view, certainly not suggesting advice) is that quality absolutely trumps quantity to me.
I know in advance, you will always do what is right for you, in your heart of hearts. good luck brother

Oh Sonny...
Is there any way I can give you some of my T-level?
I'm sure not using it for anything.

Sonny:
Sorry to hear ... I feel the frustration...Doctors give us these shots, but don't feel the repercussions. I'm trying to explain that to mine now.
With your fabulous attitude, I have a sense that you'll find a way to make tomorrow another bonus day ... in spite of the speed bumps

I haven't been on Lupron but I know how it affects my brother. We both started supplementing with l-arginine. It seems to be helping with my muscles. He's using it because it may help with circulatory system.
Good luck

Very sorry to hear about
the downturn, Sonny, disappointing to be sure.
But if anyone has it within himself to handle it, it's you.
Maybe there's a cloud covering the sun today, but there will always be sunnier days ahead.

Glad that you did get a break and hopefully there will be more breaks in your future. I have enjoyed each one, but that just don't seem to last long enough.

I love this place, the support is always awesome.
I know that I can live with Lupron (figuratively), I just don't care much for the degree of loss in daily QoL that comes along with it.
So I gave my trainer some homework this morning. Figure out how I keep training and keep strength without Testosterone. He has a Masters in Sports Physiology so he should be able to solve this to a degree. He did say that building muscle increases T. That might explain the jump in T in the last month. Now the question will be which one wins, Lupron or Strength training? I am betting on Lupron.
Onward and upward in this crappy journey. I am not ready to call it quits yet. I haven't fully enjoyed the life I have with my new partner Sherry. I built a pool and massive outdoor living area last year. I am in the process of building an outdoor kitchen. I have still have a motorhome. I still have a fishing boat.
And I plan to use all of them for a long time. I really need to get my money's worth out of them.
But dangitt I have really been enjoying the sex again and losing that bothers me the most.
Just processing all of this in the meantime.
I am going to NIH/NCI at the end of this month to complete two clinical trials I am in. Both of them are diagnostic in nature and will give me a more complete picture of what's going on. How many nodes are involved and whether or not it has made it to the bones.
I am meeting with my Onco right after I get back and we will figure things out.
Hell, Every Day is Still A Bonus, but I must admit that some of them are better than others,

Hopefully you can knock down the cancer without resorting to long term HT for control. A lot of people have used intermittent HT with vacations to combine cancer control with quality of life. Hopefully you can do so. Knowing you, there will be no stone unturned in the quest for the best combination allowing you to pursue a good life. I am just now very slowly recovering from being on HT for three years and finally feeling better. I sure don't want to go back on.
Thanks for keeping us posted and understand you have a world of support.

I just started another thread about
T levels (therefore PSA) increasing as a result of a strenuous strength training regimen.
I am going to do my own clinical trial. Check out the other thread.
