Robotic Surgeon in Chicago Area

I have recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer. G8 with involvement of the entire left side.

This is my first post though I have enjoyed the benefits of the knowledge shared by others here for a few weeks. I have decided on surgery over radiation + hormone therapy. At this point I'm leaning towards RALP though a Dr at Hopkins who performs both RALP and open suggested he would prefer open for my case.

I've consulted surgeons in the Chicago Metro Area including Dr. Arieh Shalhav, whom I was very impressed with. Does anyone have personal experience with Dr Shalhav that they would be willing to share.

Yes. I had RALP performed by Dr Shalhav at U of C about 6 years ago. He is probably the most experienced with robotic surgery in Chicago, and one of the most experienced in the world. He trained and performed surgery in Israel before it was approved in the U.S.

Choosing a highly experienced surgeon is one of the very few choices a patient has within his control. While most surgeries are "cut and dried," you want an experienced surgeon for the small unique anomalies that each and every case does indeed have, and especially in the cases when something departs from the norm.
