Yes. I had RALP performed by Dr Shalhav at U of C about 6 years ago. He is probably the most experienced with robotic surgery in Chicago, and one of the most experienced in the world. He trained and performed surgery in Israel before it was approved in the U.S.
Choosing a highly experienced surgeon is one of the very few choices a patient has within his control. While most surgeries are "cut and dried," you want an experienced surgeon for the small unique anomalies that each and every case does indeed have, and especially in the cases when something departs from the norm.
