Hello all,
I got my 3rd and final infusion of Provenge yesterday at the Hickman center in Sylvainia OH. I did feel some mild chills at the very end of the infusion, but after I got up and walked around when getting ready to leave, they seemed to go away.
Today I feel good. I would say that the whole process was fairly non eventful. I would caution anyone on Xgeva to prepare ahead when getting the leukapheresis to be sure and load up on calcium just before you go in. The citrate that they give you will lower your calcium to the point where you will get a buzzing feeling in your face and hands. That is not pleasant. On my second and third leukapheresis I loaded up on calcium before I went in and took a small bottle of Tums with me to chew on during the procedure.
I was supposed to get the port in my chest removed that same day, but the was some misunderstanding with the surgery department, so now I have to drive an hour back to Flower and get it removed Monday. I was not happy about that.
I talked to my onc. at Hickman about getting in on the Prostvac trials. She said that she would work with me on that. Does anyone have a list of the places where the Prostvac trials are being held, and if it is possible to sign up at this late date?
Thank you,
C.G.
