It was one year ago that I had my first consultation with the Urologist. This was a referral based on my PSA doubling for 2 years in a row. As I recall it, I met first with a nurse who took my history--including family history. Then, a bladder ultrasound (I was retaining quite a bit). Then, the PA came in and did a DRE. Then the conversation that went something like this: You need to have a biopsy to see what (if anything) is happening. She gave me a list of instructions, a scrip for the antibiotic and a fleet, and sent me to the scheduler to schedule the biopsy.
They were scheduling 6 weeks ahead for biopsies, so I scheduled for Dec. 2.
It was after that visit that I started doing my research into PC with "Dr. Google".
To say it's been quite a year is an understatement.
I had diagnosis in December, followed by one of my daughters graduation from Nursing School. Then in January my first grandson was born. February was RALP and early recovery. Late March was first PSA (<0.1), continence and success with sexual activity.
Early May, my elderly mother had emergency surgery (bowel blockage)
Late May, I had what could have been a fatal car wreck (fell asleep, hit a culvert at speed) and walked away from it.
September was my first GFMPH (thanks guys)
It's been crazy.
And good.
And I couldn't have done it without you guys. (and gals)

Dear Halbert,
Sounds like you could write quite a book, just from the past year ...
Meanwhile, continued BEST WISHES to you, for the year AHEAD of you now ...
Keep up the good fight and thanks for traveling on the road with all of us ...
My best to you,
Cyclone

Congratulations on making it a year!
The second year is easier. Well, at least surgeons won't be cutting things out of your body...

Halbert,
Congratulations on a (mostly) good year. How is that grandson?
From your post on other thread, let us know what your "t" level is. Gary's medonc says no need to retest, as under 50 is good enough, and he's certain that on going Lupron injections are keeping it there. But I see that Nomar was under 3. So I wonder if between 3 and 50 has same effect, or if the lower the T, the more inhibition of cancer cell growth.

Beth, I haven't had a "t" check. They don't think I need one.

Halbert -- It was great to meet you and your wife at GFMPH. Glad you're doing so well ... fantastic actually, as you have the Trifecta thing going. Rock on
Best -- Jon

Hal, we'll be celebrating one year anniversary of RALP pretty much together, in Ianuary and February. I'm looking forward to that, and to hoisting a beverage together in celebration at the next GFMPH gathering.
