I am starting a thread for a new member "Mouthy" (although from her post on the karaoke thread she doesn't seem at all mouthy, unlike yours truly). The DH is a patient at MD Anderson and is 67 yrs young. He has recently begun HT and PSA dropped from 7 to 0! Congratulations!!!

Yes, welcome. This is a great group of knowledgeable people (myself excepted!). They are warm, caring, funny and thoughtful. Couldn't have handled the last 10 months without them. WELCOME!

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome! I'm just on my good behavior......IRL, believe me, mouthy is an understatement. Yes, the insurance has turned him down for the proton treatments and we've argued the point with them continually. We have a small time frame in which to choose to fight further or pay for it outright (which would mean spending retirement in a box under a bridge, unfortunately), or get a medical barracuda attorney or just forget it and let insurance pay the whole darn thing and not worry about it any more. We're going over the options carefully.

I just can't believe insurance said no! I mean, even Medicare pays for proton therapy! I've mainly just been having fits and calling people on the phone to argue and try not to explode because that would be soooo messy! I'll post his stats as soon as I figure out how!

Mouthy - we hear that story all the time about proton treatments. Many insurance companies don't like the expense and other will still claim it's experimental.

Hi Mouthy,
Good to see your post. Sorry you are having to deal with B.S. from the insurance. Whatever decision you make, I'm sure it will be the very best choice for you. You have a very highly recommended center from which your DH is receiving tx. Best wishes and let us know how it goes.
