7 days out. Everything's gone well save a hick up or two along the way.

I was expecting to be further along at a 7 days. My belly is distended and hurts. (Guessing it's gas and some constipation).

Gas still hurting shoulders, trunk, ect.


Is this normal.at 7 days. My big belly hurts...grimace hurt.

I force myself to walk and getting in and out of.a.cjair.or.bed is still slow and painful.

Doc says I'm fine. But hes.only seen me once.

Seems likw.im not.getting.better cath out 2 days back

Yup.

You get pumped up with gas for a robotic-assisted RP to help create space in your cavity. Surgeon told you this, right? Takes a week or two to work itself out of your system. Causes some discomfort and distension.

island time,

The second and third nights I had tremendous shoulder pain from the gas migration requiring me to take a hydrocodone to help me sleep. During those couple of days one Aleve took care of the abdominal pain. It was painful to get up or down out of a chair the first 3 or 4 days. Still I was able to get up and pace many times back and forth in the house those days.

Gas didn't hurt at all for the first 3 days so I thought I was in the clear. Around day 5 it became clear that I was mistaken.

Yesterday was my worst day. I'm gonna get some alieve. My stomach is the culprit. But I had overactive gas and sensitive stomach before the op.

Keeping you in mind as well. Thanks pilot.

I guess I'm freaked out a little because my stomach still hurts at day 7 and I'm still walking very gingerly.

Not the norm from others I've spoken with.

Call your doctor if you are concerned.

However, I recall being bloated and having midsection pain even after catheter pull, which for me was more than a week after surgery.

IT, i think i told you, i experienced similar pain, i think it started around day 3. It was in my chest, and shoulders, mostly, and it was excruciating. I don't exactly remember but i believe it lasted about 10 days, then because intermittent for a few days, and finally after about 2 weeks was gone. Felt better when i walked.
Be paitent, it will disappear, obvoiously not soon enough, but it will.

As JackH said, if it really bothers you enough, just call your Doc.

Ok. That's making me feel better.

(I think i am better tonight...those stomach cramps seem to be on their way out)

I much appreciate your post in my other (path) thread Jack. There's still info to be gathered and possibly decisions to be made. I'm just not there yet. :-)

I had the impression everyone was doing better than me at day 7.

Everyone is different as well I think. I've had definite stomach and bowel issues for years..i just wasn't sure whether they would come into play or not. Your post helps to clarify things in my head and give me ALOT more comfort and persective.

I also had about a 12 hr. bladder spasm night before last. It never abated. That in itself set me back just a skoch.

My doc had me come in yesterday. He wanted to see for himself that my bladder was emptying. (Which it was). I'm fine.

On day 7 I had my cath and staples pulled. I never had issues with gas pains (except in my gut when my bowels were deciding to work). You're certainly within the "normal" parameters. It will all be past in a few days.

No. I did a consult with him in the spring (I think it was). I just wasn't ready then.

Decided on the local rock star. Big fish in a small pond.

1300 under his belt.

My opinion, island time, is that you should ask your surgeon for clarification on this point:

The report was pT2 and no ECE. This raises question about the apparent conflict with the reported +margin. So was the +margin caused by a capsular incision during the procedure/removal? This was my speculation in your other thread, but if this indeed were confirmed by the surgeon, that would be a significant piece of information.

He's already confirmed it. That's exactly what happened. Evidently, when that occurs. ..it's still staged pT2. No ECE.

From what little I've read....it increases the chance of recurrence any where from the same as if one had ECE to up to 50% higher than the same disease with no mistakes.

Sometimes pathologists classify this situation as pT2+. From what I've read, probably not as bad as ECE, but significant nonetheless.


You'll need to be getting the ultrasensitive PSAs going forward whereas without this the standard PSA would have been fine.

That seems to be what happened to me. Staged pT2c with no ECE but positive margins. If anything leaked out, there is a good chance that it will just eventually die off. Or it may be indolent and you could carry on with no further treatments. But not so for me. I made it 18 months. Now my uro and two RO's said mine will continue to grow unless I treat it. I'll be starting SRT 12-16-15.

In reference to JFL's situation of rising psa with positive margins. I'm no doc so this has no basis in fact. What I meant was that in one has positive margins and a year and a half later has a biochemical failure....The first place I would think the cancer is is right there in the bed of the prostate.

It just seems like this scenario would be more likely than if there were no positive margins with biochemical failure.

Right or wrong? I don't know. Common sense and medicine don't always mix.
