One year ago today, I got "the call". After 10+ years of PSA testing, I had 2 annual PSA readings that doubled from the previous reading. This led to a referral to a Urologist, followed by a biopsy. On December 5, 2014, my biopsy report came back.
To say it's been an eventful year would be an understatement. Here are a few of the major events of the last 12 months. Looking back, it's amazing that I'm as sane as I appear to be. :)
During the last year, I went through the PC treatment decision process, chose RALP, had my first grandchild show up in January, my 86 yr old mother had an emergency colostomy, I had a car wreck (first ever for me), went to GFMPH Rochester, and decided that a solid retirement date is a good thing (5 years). Just looking at this list makes my head spin.
The biggest lesson is this: This is a journey that we mostly walk together, but there are a few steps we all take alone. The decisions we make are ours to make, and the outcomes are ours to live with. I know I'm one of the fortunate ones, and I know that it's only by the grace of God that I've had that outcome.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you. For those of you who I drive crazy, so sorry, you're stuck with me. For those who helped me...and continue to help me...thank you. I know one basic thing. You guys were here for me a year ago, and I will continue to be here for the next newcomer who comes in seeking information and help.
