Sorry for the repost I'm just trying to find out how effective is the Dilation Baloon Catheter in preventing Bladder neck stricture recurrence.
Last Thursday I had 2nd stricture surgery since RP in July.
At least this time they accepted the flowchart and bladder scan as proof of stricture recurrence ..so no poking around with catheter & Cystoscopy thank God.
Day after surgery Doctor showed me how to self catheter and dilate ..it was ok ...a bit sore at the sphincter muscle. I was surprised it was done the day after surgery ..probably because last time I was starting to get pain and slow stream after only 2 weeks
I never saw a dilation catheter until yesterday & never realised you inject distilled water into the Catheter to expand it.
Can it be sterilised for reuse as the instructions says dispose after use.
How long does it help in preventing recurrence as I was told up to 6-9 months by one Doctor and 1-5 years by another and even cure ..wild variation!
From this forum I see some patients have no recurrence after 2-3 stricture surgeries.
