Anyone have experience with Xtandi, my Lupron / Zytiga is no longer effective
and we are going to switch to XTANDI, I got 18 months use out of Zytiga
now I am wondering what will I get out of Xtandi, perhaps a year?
then we switch to intravenous chemo, (omg) I feel I am near the end
probably have to retire from work next year,
when I get near the end how is the pain, I might ask?
do we have anyone posting what dying from prostate cancer is like,
I want to know, even though I will experience it myself soon enough
I would like to know what is coming, how horrible is the final year???

Sorry to hear that news Jack. Hopefully you will get more time with the Xtandi. I am on my 8th month of Zytiga and hope to get two or more years out of it. Not sure what the pain is like, and I think I will just let it surprise me. At that point they can load me up with pain meds as I won't care. Keep the faith and have a Happy New Year.

Your signature doesn't mention mets, but if you had Zytiga approved, I assume there are some? The reason I ask is because Taxotere can sometimes restore sensitivity to both Zytiga and Xtandi.

I was just told by my Onc that he can just now see some small sign of bone mets and some further enlarging of lymph nodes, I got 18 months use out of zytiga, I asked to wait three more months from now before we start on xtandi.

So why not do taxotere now? Sooner works better and is better tolerated than later.

Jack,

Plenty of guys using Xtandi and many prefer it since you don't need to take prednisone like you do with Zytiga. How long it is effective is unique to each of us. I know guys that have been on it for years. Since you were on Zytiga there may be some cross resistance, but who knows.

I am still working as well. I understand the challenge of working while dealing with advanced prostate cancer. I'm considering chemo given all the recent studies and seeing that several guys I've read about have been able to work while dealing with it. What type of job do you have?

Have you been able to get Provenge? Xofigo for bone mets is always an option as well...and there are other options that docs can use...and plenty of more coming down the pike.

I know it's hard sometimes, but dwell on the living with this crap...
