All,
Although I am new to this site, it is clear that this board has a wealth of knowledge and experience regarding PC amongst all age group. I am a 30 year old, healthy and active male. I recently had my PSA tested during my annual physical to set a baseline for future testing, which I planned to began with regularity at 40 based on a family history of PC (both sides of family).
My first test came back at 3.7, and my GP referred me to a urologist. A week later, the Urologist performed a DRE and retested my PSA. DRE was normal, but retest came back at 3.9.
While I recognize that it's extraordinarily rare for a 30 year-old to have PC, a PSA of 3.9 seems very high for someone my age. In fact, I have yet to find someone my age with a PSA that high.
My doctor prescribed me a 2 week dose of antibiotics and said we will retest in 2 weeks. Does this sound like a good option, or should I have a biopsy. How likely is it that this is just prostatitis or some other benign condition?
Thanks for any insight.
