I have localized advanced prostate cancer, Gleason 9 with lymph node metastasis. I had a clean bone and CT scan one year ago, and then again three months ago, but am experiencing a mild ache in my right hip that is getting slightly worse every month. It's a very mild ache that never goes away, but is not severe.
The doctor suspects it is muscular rather than bone cancer, but is considering either an MRI or another bone scan.
A friend, who died of bone cancer told me that they found his bone mets via an MRI and that the bone scans came up clean.
What is everyone's opinion? Do you think MRI's can detect bone cancer where a bone scan misses it. Would an MRI be recommended.
Thanks for everyone's opinion.
