I think there are two buckets. One is the group that will not question their treatment modality, the second is the group that may have some regrets after the fact, whether due to SE's or still having PCa after primary treatment. There is no one right answer really, as others have said, it's a very personal decision.
I just finished reading a PCa book written by a uro who had PCa and he summed the RP vs RT choice up as either front loading SE's with RP or back loading SE's with RT. Big picture that may be somewhat accurate, though some of us who chose RT would undoubtedly argue otherwise. Then again there are some here who continue to struggle with SE's and other issues RT related that characterize RT as "the gift the keeps on giving." Only time will tell the tale ultimately.
FWIW, I just had BT and so far I'm happy with my choice but I don't yet know if I'm in remission and won't even start to know for at least three months until my first PSA test and won't really know for 2-3 years. I was OK with this reality, but others want the definitive account of having their prostate removed and knowing for certain via pathology what amount and type of PCa they actually had. To each his own I say.
