One of life's injustices for me is the sudden emergence of a bladder neck stricture and associated scar tissue (~5 years after RP and radiation). I realize this has likely been building for a while but with my colon surgery in December, it made itself dramatically known. I had a urologist in surgery to temporarily place ureteral stents for safety during surgery. He said the tissue is not great and he had dilate me to get the stents in. Subsequently, I have made 4 trips to the ER for retention-related issues and have become somewhat of an expert on self-catheterization and the various brands and styles of catheters for self-use. So, I alternate, sometimes within hours, between drip, drip (I have to wear a pad) and the need to use a catheter to pee. I don't have a specific game plan other than to "keep on keeping on" for now. I will see the urologist this summer to assess status.
