Dear Jannnett,
Glad to hear that your father has started his chemotherapy infusions. He may be tired and lethargic in the next few days, and then his energy level should rebound shortly after that.
Typically, TAXOTERE infusions are given every 3 weeks on a consistent cycle.
Here in the United States, the doctor will order a PSA test and other blood level tests right before the next TAXOTERE infusion.
You will likely see an improved PSA score --- and the other blood tests must be given, to insure that your father is ready for his next TAXOTERE treatment. The doctors must assess that his red blood cell count, white blood cell count, and other blood components have restored themselves sufficiently, right before your father's next TAXOTERE infusion.
So --- in answer to your question --- your father's doctor will order a PSA and other lab work right before the next TAXOTERE chemotherapy infusion. It will also help the doctor assess the impact that the TAXOTERE is having on your fathers lab counts, including his PSA level.
Please let us know how your father is faring, as he continues in his series of chemotherapy treatments !
Sent with my best to you, from the United States to you and and your father in India,
