Saw my PSA go from .01 to .02 in a year before going to .03. Three months later it was .06, so I prepared for the next step: radiation.

Had my markers placed, did the simulation and was ready to rock and roll. Saw my uro yesterday and my PSA had gone from .06 to .07. I had expected it to be over .1. He wants to watch it every 90 days before he pulls the trigger and schedules me with the RO.

I was ready to go but thankful I got a reprieve for a while. Wasn't looking forward to my summer vacation being 38 days at the RO's office.

Before you do the SRT, try to have one of the new whole body scans done (18F-Choline PET/CT) something like that which can expose very small mets. The results of this scan can be very useful in determining what the best and most effective treatment might be..No sense doing the 78 Grey, 40 fractions full pelvic radiation procedure if the horse has left the barn....Once your PSA gets above 0.5 or so, the location of the source of that PSA should reveal itself...

the psa tests have some level of inaccuracy especially at low levels. I was in your situation and plotted the data on a graph. for me, the trigger point for salvage radiation was 0.1 and I just completed 37 sessions and am still on hormone therapy for another month or so. my recommendation is to check psa every 2 months. even if you have to pay for it, it is not expensive and more data to spot the trend is better .

I had 10 rounds of RT on my T12! The first couple days wasn't all that wonderful, but not bad after that!
