G9 gets chemo, RT & Lupron & achieves low PSA!! Is it significant?

We were thrilled to get the news today that my G9 husband got his third PSA decrease in a row after ending 44 sessions of RT in Dec 2015. He went from .9 in Jan 2016 to .6 in March 2016 to .27 today. Last summer he also did 3 months of early chemo and then started Lupron in October 2015. He is still on Lupron.

The doc kind of took the wind out of our sails today when he said the only thing it means is that the Lupron is working.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought I had read/heard that the faster and lower you go (even on Lupron) after primary treatment the better. Does this mean good things for his path going forward? Are there studies that have looked at this?

I agree with both of you. It does mean that the Lupron is working, and that certainly does bode well. Lupron doesn't work as well if there are lots of castration-resistant cells. Why not celebrate every victory?

I think that the drop in PSA, continued over time, is a tremendous indication of treatment SUCCESS ... nice, steady, CONSISTENT drop ...

You've worked your PSA down to LOW LEVELS ... it's JUST like a summertime golf game ... the lower your score, the better your golf game ...

I'm really happy for you and your husband ... success in treatments means the WORLD when you get news like this ...

Better pick out your FAVORITE RESTAURANT and go CELEBRATE together !

"the only thing that it means is the Lupron is working" ...what do you want to get the wind back in the sails ...for the Lupron not to work...another example of the human being focused on the negative...a kick in the butt is the best remedy for most... "blessed is he that is not offended in me"...some wacky itinerant preacher...back in the day.......
