Finished chemo #6...PSA down but still very high

Well, as of August 18th chemo number 6 is in the books...the whole experience was a major challenge.....I started chemo back in April 2016 after my PSA took off like a rocket.....starting chemo PSA 540. In Jan this year it was "only" 21.9 !! As of August 29 Monday and 11 days after last chemo PSA has dropped to 183.....fast decline at first but last one only dropped by 7. So where do I go from here ? Don't know....but I do know that I really need a bit of a break before starting/continuing any more chemo....I need it mentally and physically I need some time to recover. Fortunately I am meeting with my oncologist @ UCSF today....I hope he has some ideas and some encouragement.....counting the colon chemo I have had 23 cycles of chemo, had my liver resected, my right lung resected, and 12 inches of colon removed.....I still have more better days than bad so the fight must continue....but I need a break.

Good luck with the doc today ziggy... Hopefully they have a plan. Take care and let us know the next steps. -JR

Hello Ziggymonster,

You deserve some "rest and relaxation" in every way imaginable ... you've been through a barrage of treatments ... but your fighting spirit and determination are still evident.

I hope that your upcoming consultation with your medical team goes well --- I've been following your posts, every step of the way.

You've been a boxer inside a boxing ring ... slugging it out against a mighty opponent ...

Hope you get a reprieve ... and a chance to restore yourself physically and emotionally ... a series of chemo treatments can leave one feeling the effects of treatment fatigue, to be sure ...

Thank you for sharing your courage ... determination ... tenacity ... and HOPE with others here.

Thanks for the update Ziggy. Think of you often and send out prayers for you. I you go to UCSF I'm guessing you are a Northern CA resident too.
