Bipolar Androgen Therapy: Anyone with experience? Information? Thoughts?

My husband's oncologist is now recommending that Frank start BAT, bipolar androgen therapy. The regimen would be intramuscular injections of 400 mgs of Testosterone cypionate on Day 1 combined with 100 mgs of Etoposide taken orally Days 1-14. This would last for three 28-day cycles. Is there anyone out there who has done this treatment regimen or is thinking about it? Or just has information or thoughts about this?
This recommendation seems to be following the protocol led by Schweitzer at the University of Washington/Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.

Hi Lisa,
I was happy to see a post from you! How is Frank doing? Your signature isn't very current. I hope the chemo regiment worked well for him. I am pretty sure I saw a fairly recent post from TA on this, but can't remember what it said specifically, except that it is showing promise. The title was something about giving large doses of T to combat PCa. If I recall, Frank had some other issues (hernia maybe??) Hope he's feeling good now and hope you are well too.

If you scroll to the bottom, you will see that NJ Jon went through it with good results. You may want to post there to get his attention.

The work was actually done at Johns Hopkins. I guess Schweitzer since moved to UW. Your doctor seems to be following the Johns Hopkins original protocol, although the researchers questioned whether the etoposide was much benefit - it added considerably to the toxicity. In their follow-up trials, they don't use it.
