EPE (or ECE) and Biopsy

I get caught up thinking about my treatment process and where I am now. And I can't help but wonder if the 'things' done to me have contributed to where I am. More specifically, the relationship, if any, between a biopsy and EPE.

My post-op pathology stated that I had EPE. Could having been poked with 13 biopsy needles have potentially caused EPE some 3 months afterwards at surgery time? It seems to me physically possible. I mean, if you poke something, isn't something inside bound to get out? I know it does me no good to look back and think that it could have been avoided, because I think it couldn't. But it makes me wonder.......

I am hoping that in 20 years, when my two boys (age 21 and 18) need any diagnostic testing done for this disease, that something other than an invasive procedure, such as a biopsy, has been replaced with a simple MRI or some other type of scan.

I don't believe it works that way. But, maybe it could. could applies to a lot of stuff

We always want to find a cause or a reason for our misfortunes, but sometimes there just isn't one...other than the obvious.

My 'locally advanced' acinar adenocarcinoma put out projections all over the place in 3 dimensions, like a ball covered with spikes. Those exraprostatic projections went right through the nerve sheath resulting in my loosing the nerves along with the prostate. Beyond the projections were the 'positive margins'. Those would be individual cancer cells crawling their way towards new sites to colonize and/or blood/lymph vessels to migrate/metastasize with.

None of that had any logical physiological connection to the biopsy that found the cancer.
