My friend's rising psa

He is 65--- agent orange combat vet---- RP about 5 years ago----was a 3/4 Gleason post RP---he was .02 for a few years after Rp-- then about a year and a half ago it came back-- I forget his numbers--- they gave him rad.--- it got down to .04 ----all good for some months--- then---December .04---June .15 ---- August .16----October .25
His scans now show it has no mets......all good----- his doc says we will just watch it------no tx until it gets to about a 4 in Europe---so, he wants to watch and see what happens---- next maybe hormones if it gets up in the whole numbers---- my buddy is trying to look into immune therapy and the doc agrees but the insurance won't cover it--- 40-50 k.
He is going to put in at the VA for it--- but---- unless Trump makes America great again real soon ( LOL) that will probably be a no go----- does anybody have any random ideas or thoughts about his direction? Is it possible it's still bouncing around and wont rise much more? Is he wise just to watch for now?

It looks like it's rising steadily, now, not bouncing around. I would explore options with a highly qualified doctor.

If I were him I would try to find a medical oncologist at an NCI (National Cancer Institute) Cancer Center who specializes in prostate cancer. Most NCI-designated cancer centers accept Medicare, a quick Google search shows, if that helps.

For example, I have already decided that if my PSA rises, I will head for a nearby university-affiliated NCI-designated cancer center, where I have identified two oncologists who are on the cutting edge of treating advanced prostate cancer.

Others might disagree on the NCI part of this (especially those outside the US!) but I think we can all agree that in the case of metastatic disease, an oncologist who specializes in prostate cancer would be the ideal practitioner to seek out.

One last thing I thought I'd mention in regards to immune therapy--a co-worker of mine is doing Provenge this month. It took some time to get everything approved both medically and in terms of insurance. So I would not hold off too long on getting some expert opinions.
