Hi everyone,
I wanted to give an update on my husband Bob. Last October 2015 he was DX with advanced PCA, PSA of 1262, mets to bones and liver. Started chemo and lupron right away. PSA went down right away, and scans last January showed huge improvement. His PSA did flare in August, so he started another round of chemo in August, which ended at the end of October. Just went to the doc today, and his PSA is down from 46 at the start in August, to 16. I really do not understand all this to a large extent, but apparently the cancer in his liver and bones respond really well to lupron and chemo, but the PSA still is there. So I guess that is good since all his blood tests today are within normal range, including the AKL phosphate, and all the liver functions. Also he feels really good for being on lupron for a year now. His doc is from MD Anderson, and truly is a genius. He is going to now start him on enzalutamide. Hopefully he will remain stable, and the PSA will go down or stay stable with that.
Anyway, I just wanted to encourage the men here that get diagnosed as stage 4. There is hope and treatment. He is doing very well and has honestly never slowed down through all of this, and has never missed a day of work yet. I am sure his positive attitude helps too! When he was diagnosed, his doctor told him he had more tumor than liver-yikes.
